Simiuni was born on July 4, 1946 and resided in Povungnituk, P.Q. He was a well-known graphic artist and sculptor. His father, Charlie Sivuarapik (1911 - 1968), was a well-known stone carver. Simiuni's brothers - Thomassie and Akinsie Sivuarapik were also highly successful practicing artists.
In-depth information is difficult to acquire about this artist. What we do know, is that he had many notable exhibitions in 1982, 1983, and 1984, where he showcased annual collections, illustrated catalogues, and an assortment of sculptures and graphic art. In 1986, he was appointed to the Canadian Eskimo Arts Council and was very well-known in his community.
His works can be found publicly around Winnipeg and Ottawa, as well as many private collections.
