Alison Bremner

New Works on Paper

This past year has been challenging and unusual in ways that we could never have expected. Many of us spent time reflecting on our lives and our places in the world, facing isolation, introspection and insecurity.
Alison Bremner is an exceptionally creative voice in Tlingit and Northwest Coast art. She can use darkness and solitude to create visual images of humor, color and communication. This collection features three new paintings that resulted from her 2020 experiences. One explores the dismantling of old colonial symbols, another looks into the spirit of our experiences going forward, while the third is a humorous piece about the mandate of wearing face masks for such a long period of time.

Please take a moment to explore her work and to experience a few things that you might find relatable, as we'll all been in this together.
