Select Inuit Drawings
Inuit artists Ohotaq Mikkigak, Meelia Kelly, Audla Pudlat, Padloo Samayualie and Qavavau Manumi are known for their masterful drawings of Arctic life and for their use of humor and charm in relating Inuit legends and scenery on paper.
The artists depict the activities of northern wildlife, like the migration of whales, caribou and birds, with a unique type of whimsy and imagination.
The work can be playful and dreamlike, bold and bright, or suffused with a realism that allows the viewer to be briefly transported to the cool winds and waters of the Arctic.
“I enjoy the animals and the land and I take what I see there into my drawings.”
- Qavavau Manumie
