A Timeless Journey VII

Paddles of the Pacific

The paddle is a tool to propel us through time and distance, to take us on a journey across history and culture. Each of these paddles pays homage to thousands of years of ancestral heritage while strengthening the role this heritage plays in contemporary society.

This show represents the works of indigenous artists from the coasts of Washington, British Columbia, Alaska and New Zealand. It presents us with a wide variety of paddle shapes and sizes created for specific uses in the varied regions of the Pacific. It explores the fascinating transition of cultural styles from across this vast territory, while allowing the artists the freedom of personal expression.

We are thrilled to present this specially curated paddle collection for our seventh Timeless Journey exhibit.

This biennial show is the most anticipated of our Exhibition Series. Please join us in celebrating these exceptional artists and their contributions to the traditional art of the Pacific Coast.
