"This mask represents 'OL' the Bear. It’s carved in the Naxnox or ‘spirit guardian’ style.  It’s also called a sleeper mask. It’s used in performances to show the power of a man’s personal spirit power. The controls are carved in the shape of salmon, which is Bear’s favorite food. The color, the blue and red dashing, has become a signature of my work, done on totem poles and other masks. But I believe the dashing is the magic that you don’t know is happening to you."
