During summer solstice in Anchorage, the midnight summer sunset can be seen from the beach, facing the west. The sun dips low into a mountain valley known as the Sleeping Lady, where it is softly cradled for an hour. After resting in her embrace, the sun taps her shoulder gently and rises again towards dawn.
