Mary Pudlat

Mary Pudlat (Miaji Pullat) was born near Puvirnituq in 1923 and passed away in 2001. She was a printmaker and illustrator who became involved with the Kinngait graphics movement in the 1960s. Her work would be included numerous times in the Cape Dorset Annual Print Collection throughout her career. Pudlat depicted whimsical scenes of camp life, community history and imaginative stories. Her work can be found in several major artistic institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery of Canada.
