This painting asks the question how do we center nature in our actions and relationship to technology as we evolve.

While the finite resources of the Earth are being gobbled up and spit out at extremely alarming rates, the focus on technology and space has never been greater. Even as we’re being warned that the global systems that sustain life may no longer be available in as little as 50 years, humankind seems set on pushing themselves further and further into space. The endless search for ‘life out there’ or for other habitable planets drives technological developments like 2020’s Space-X rockets, asteroid landings and Mars Rovers. We spend billions to get further away from the earth instead of healing it’s deep wounds. No matter how far out there we go, will it matter if the earth is dead? What will we do if there is no earth? Will we endlessly traipse through the cosmos scavenging for materials to create another one?
