"The story behind The Box of Storms is: a hunter was up in the mountains looking for muuwutch (deer) when a great storm rolled in. The man found a cave to hide out the storm, and as he entered, he lit a fire and noticed way at the back of the cave was a box.

As he approached and touched it, it fell from its perch to the ground and when it did, a huge roll of thunder and lightnight shot through the sky. That's when he knew this box controlled the thunder and lightning. So after the storm passed, he took the box back to his village.

Portrayed on the box front and back is the thunderbird. On the sides are lightning snakes.

I started this piece 5 years ago and kept picking away at it between other projects over the years, until recently, when I decided it was time to finish the piece."
