Sorting and Sampling the Harvest
Original painting – acrylic on canvas
24” x 30”
Close extended family ties is the norm in native societies; creating considerable contact between the elders and the young. Harvesting berries is just one of the many traditional activities that an extended family may engage in. I have many precious memories of warm summer days berry picking with Gramma, Mom, Aunties and other children. In this image, the very young girl is quite serious about sorting the berries while her older brother is more interested in eating them.
